In the past, many famous Vietnamese film directors, producers, playwrights and film critics studied at the VGIK.
To mark the VGIK’s 90th birthday, the VCD will host a film festival at the National Cinema Centre in Hanoi from March 6-10. The festival will screen 12 feature films and 3 documentaries by Vietnamese directors and playwrights who studied at the VGIK, and 19 Russian films by both former and current students at the VGIK, including the well-known Russian directors, A. Tarkovskyi, N. Mikhaikov and R. Khamdamov.
At the event, the VCD and a VGIK delegation, which is visiting Vietnam, will make a presentation on Russian cinema and discuss exchange opportunities and cooperation in film production between the two countries.
The VGIK is one of the world’s largest cinemas training establishments, with 17 various disciplines. The university has preserved more than 2,000 classic films from Russia and other countries, 3,500 films made by VGIK students. Its well-equipped film studio enables it to produce celluloid films.
