During the hour long performance, 18 artists from Spanish famous theater group Els Comediants and 19 artists from the Vietnam Circus Federation acted out the legends and history of Thang Long-Hanoi and King Ly Cong Uan’s vision of a soaring dragon using fire as the major element.
Fernando Curcio, Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam, said that the performance was a harmonious mixture of Vietnamese and Mediterranian culture. It depicted Vietnamese and Spanish dragons along with fireworks, dancing and music.
The performance ended with an airship flying from the northeast of the city carrying a Vietnamese woman wearing an Ao Dai (traditional dress) trailing banners of silk with words to celebrate the grand ceremony, and a fiery castle on the stage filling the sky with different colours.
