First Vietnamese silk painting exhibition in France

An exhibition of silk paintings opened at the Vietnamese Culture Centre in Paris on July 24, grabbing special attention from Vietnamese and French art circles.

On display are nearly 40 works by Vietnamese painters who use colours and lines in a harmonious way to highlight the daily activities of Vietnamese ethnic minority groups. Among them are ‘Cho Nui’ (Mountain Market) by Hoang Minh Duc, ‘Phut thu gian’ (Moment of Relaxation) by Nguyen Thi Mang and ‘Hoi Giong’ (Giong Festival) by Nguyen Nghia Duyen.

The exhibition, which will last until August 30, is one of the events held to promote Vietnam’s culture, rich in national identity, on the occasion of the millennial anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

This is the first exhibition of its kind being held in France by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnamese embassy in Paris.
