A festival held in Kien Giang province on July 31, featuring 30 southern art troupes, presented puppet shows and folk games from a number of different provinces and cities across the country.

An incense offering ceremony at the festival commemorated war martyrs, and a charity drive was launched to help poor children.

At the festival’s opening ceremony, the organising board presented 140 scholarships worth VND500,000 each to poor students in Kien Giang who have recorded good academic results.
