The first international choir festival will be held in Hoi An, Quang Nam province from March 16-20, 2011, sponsored by Quang Nam province and the German International Cultural Association (InterKultur).

Tran Minh Ca, vice chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee, said at a press briefing in Hanoi on September 17 that the festival is expected to attract more than 1,000 Vietnamese and foreign singers.

Delegations will be divided into six groups to compete in 13 events. An international jury will consist of 10 experts selected by InterKultur.

The opening ceremony will take place on March 16 on a floating stage at Hoai River Square in Hoi An. In addition to competitions, choral groups will offer free performances to spectators.
