Nguyen Van Tinh, head of the International Cooperation Bureau under the ministry, told the Daily on Wednesday that the minister has submitted the plan to the Government and expects the nation’s tourism industry to be promoted when the best league in the world kicks off next month.
“We are waiting for the Government’s approval. The publicity program costs around VND3 billion,” he said.
Tinh said the adverts will help strongly promote the nation for supporters in the football stadiums and the millions tuning in around the world.
In a recent talk with the Daily, Nguyen Quoc Ky, general director of HCMC-based Vietravel, said that the country’s tourism industry has to tap into promotion via international sports events.
“International sports events are the best chance for publicity programs to work. Many countries have had successful marketing plans this way,” Tinh said.
The bureau this year will invite more foreign reporters to visit the country in a bid to gain favorable publicity.
The country has attracted around 2.96 million foreign visitors travel to Vietnam in the first half of this year, up 18.1% year-on-year.
