According to Deputy Chairman of the Kien Giang provincial People's Committee Mai Van Huynh, the campaign aims to support a master plan by local authorities to turn Phu Quoc into “an international-level hub of ecotourism”.

By 2020, the island is expected to gross US$771 million from providing hospitality to 2-3 million tourists annually, 40% of whom will be foreign visitors.
