Tham Tet Toong Grotto belongs to Chieng An commune, Son La commune, Son La province, about 2km far away from the centre of Son La commune. Following the direction to Muong Lat, Chieng An peacefully locates on provincial high way, behind Chieng Phom, Chieng Ho.
The way to grotto follows a small foot-way at Chieng An junction which is wet, slippery but very poetic. At one side, there are wild flowers with many colors yellow, pink, white interspersing with green leaves while a fresh and transparent spring channel flows at another side.
In almost everywhere, butterflies and dragonflies are flying. The small pretty butterflies have white wings which are decorated by various patterns and colors. It is hard to find two of butterflies that are same to each other, and none of them is bigger than a phalange. The dragonflies look like the pilots wearing artistry mixed colorful clothes.
The grotto is covered around by high and continuous mountains with green forests. The grotto exit is a deep blue lake which is built with a water filtering system for local people to use.
The grotto longs over 150m, divides itself into many parts with the different-shaped stalactites. The scenery inside Tham Tet Toong grotto is mysterious like a natural picture, somewhere the stream of stalactite runs along shaped like a group of bamboo trees, somewhere a group of rocks crowd together making a cloud on the cave’s wall. All mix together, making up a wild, strange but extremely fascinated Tham Tet Toong.
Every morning, when the sunshine spreads, seeing from the cave entrance, there is a fantasy world of brilliant colorful various-shaped stalactites.
