This waterfall is the most magnificient powerful one in the vicinity of Da Lat. Located in a mountain range over 50 kikometres from Da Lat city of Lam Dong province, Pongour waterfall has the hight of 40 metres. From that height of waterfallsfall down to a big lake below producing great noise the sound of which can be heard far from the waterfall. Strolling on a red dust road to the west for about 5km, travelers will arrive at Pongour eco-area.
Pongour is transcribed by French people from K’Ho language. It means the landlord of a white-clay area. According to French geological documents, this area has lots of kaolin.
It is the only waterfall where an ethnic festival takes place. Each year, on the full moon day of the first lunar month, refined beautiful young people of every ethnic group gather for a spring pilgrimage, climb up the waterfall floors in a desire for eternal Elysium. This is a chance for better mutual understanding and love between one and the other.
