In the journey to discover Ha Long, besides visiting the bay, tourists can take part in many entertaining activities or relax in high-end villas, hotels or resorts in the tourism area of Hoang Gia international Park and Tuan Chau international tourist area. Crossing Bai Chay bridge to go to the city center, tourists will have a chance to explore many other attractive destinations.
Tourists can climb Bai Tho Mountain – a national historic monument, to enjoy the magnificient views from the summit, over the mountain. Also, they can visit Long Tien pagoda and Trang Quoc Tien temple which lie near the foot of Bai Tho Mountain.
Long Tien pagoda is one of famous pagodas in Ha Long city. On Tet holiday, the fifteenth or the first of the lunar month, Long Tien attracts a lot of local people and visitors coming here to worship. The pagoda was built in 1941. Although it was built in the mid-twentieth century, it was designed in Nguyen dynasty’s architectural style. In the pagoda, there are many boards of parallel sentences sculptured sophisticatedly.
Especially, the pagoda has a famous construction called “Bo Cuu Long” (“nine dragons” in Vietnamese). It describes nine dragons flanking the Buddha sculptured sophisticatedly.
Besides seafood, there is an unique tourism product that tourists only can find in Quang Ninh. That is coal sculptured products. The typical material to make this products is coal that is only found in some open-cast mines area in Quang Ninh. Coal sculptured statues have become the famous specific products of Quang Ninh.
In the evening, tourists can take a stroll along the beach to relax or buy souvenirs at the night market or enjoy seafood.
If tourists want to go shopping, they can go to Ha Long market. This is the largest market in Quang Ninh province. Ha Long Market has become a popular shopping center for locals and tourists. There are a variety of goods sold here. Stalls selling coal-made souvenirs, woodwork and seafood are often crowded with tourists.
