Talking to the press, the Minister of Mauritius island tourism, Hon Michael Yeung Sik Yuen emphasized that renovation in tourism business is a vital factor. After having a certain number of Vietnamese visitors, they will open direct flights from Mauritius to Vietnam.

Mauritius does not set out ambition for tourism growth anymore, but focuses on exploiting new tourist markets, especially those from Asia, Britain, Russia, Germany. Mauritius tourism industry expects many guests from Vietnam.

Mr Hon Micheal said, Mauritius is a luxurious and strange destination for Vietnam. Traveling is inconvenient because Mauritius Airline does not have direct flights to Vietnam, the visitors must purchase tickets from Vector Avitation general agent to fly to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and take a 7 hour flight to Mauritius. However Mauritius is a tourism paradise with golden sun, blue sea, peaceful and multi-ethnic environment. When reaching a certain number of visitors, they will discuss with Vietnam airline to open direct flights to Mauritius.

Mauritius island is located in Eastern Africa, Indian Ocean Shores, 900km from Madagasca island and nearby the Reunion island. With the area of 2000 km2 and 1.5 million people, Mauritius is well-known as a tourism paradise. Mauritius per capita income is about $7000, one of the best economic growth in Africa.
