On March 20 in the Government Headquarter, the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met with the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Thein Sein during his official visit to Vietnam.

On behalf of Vietnam Government, the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung saluted the President Thein Sein to pay an official visit to Vietnam; expressed the belief on the success of this visit, improving the relationship between the two countries, especially  making the economic, commercial and investment cooperation between Vietnam-Myanmar commensurate with political, diplomatic relationship of the two countries. At the meeting, the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized that Vietnam always desires to improve the relationship with Myanmar for the practical benefits to both Vietnam and Myanmar.

In this spirit, the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung suggested remaining the annual political consultation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries; strengthening cooperation in Mekong sub-region (CLMV: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam). At the same time, the two parties will promote developing the programs and agreements on the fields that the leaders of the two countries have agreed.

The President Thein Sein stated his visit aims at consolidating and further strengthening the friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Myanmar; and announced that the two countries have been opening cooperation in many fields, especially on economy, commerce, security and defense…bringing a lot of positive results.

The President Thein Sein expressed thanks for Vietnam’s cooperation goodwill with Myanmar in the regional and international forums; at the same time desired to enhance cooperation with Vietnam in industry, agriculture, tourism…Myanmar will always create favorable conditions for Vietnam’s enterprises to travel there to invest and cooperate especially in agriculture, tourism and hotel…
