On March 22, 2012, right after getting out of the limestone mountain forest Phong Nha – Ke Bang (Quang Binh), Dr. Howard Limbert announced that the exploring team discovered a more beautiful cave than Son Doong cave (the largest cave in the world).

The cave belongs to 8 cave group which have just been found out for the recent year. The British Caving Association discovered 7 new caves and now more 8 caves to be total 15 new caves. Among these spots, Va cave is appreciated to be more beautiful than Son Doong cave in terms of stalagmite structure.

The expert revealed that in his life of exploring caves, he has never seen such a strange, astonishing and unique cave like Va cave. This cave is only 1.7 kilometers long, the cave’s bottom is well-aired but the stalagmite has never been seen anywhere before. According to the early information, Va cave was found by Ho Khanh and he led all the team there to research. The cave is 400 meters far from Son Doong. This discovery by the exploring team promises to enhance tourism in Quang Binh province.
